Waste
General
Ecocleen staff will comply with the waste disposal policies in place in clients' buildings. Where there are no established practices in place Ecocleen will establish and maintain procedures for the safe and appropriate separation and disposal of waste compliant with the Environmental Policy. Ecocleen does not hold a Waste Disposal Licence. Where such a licence is required, Ecocleen works in partnership with the appropriate local company. Ecocleen staff will be trained and certified to operate waste disposal machinery and will be over 18 years of age.

Confidential Waste
It is normal to identify certain waste as confidential prior to Ecocleen staff disposal. Where this happens Ecocleen staff are trained to destroy the confidential waste using clients' machinery and complete and maintain destruction certificates where appropriate.

If clients require a confidential waste service but do not possess the appropriate equipment Ecocleen can provide this service.

Medical Waste
Body Fluids and "sharps" are disposed of by Ecocleen staff using the "Yellow Sack" and rigid container service. Ecocleen will establish this in conjunction with the appropriate Area Health Authority licensed disposal unit (e.g. hospital, surgery). Frequency of disposal will be determined by the client's estimated usage and agreed with Ecocleen prior to contract commencement. Frequencies can be adjusted periodically by negotiation. This service will be quoted for separately as requested.

Washroom (Sanitary Disposal)
Ecocleen will assess the need for this service at time of quotation and provision will be by separate agreement. The disposal service will comply with the limitations contained in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and reiterated in the Approved Code of Practice - Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.

Chemicals
Ecocleen chemicals used in the cleaning process comply to strict environmental controls (Johnson Professional) and are all safe for disposal via building sewer drains. Staff are trained in the safe handling of cleaning chemicals and will have identified client's drains which are connected to the foul sewer. COSHH regulations for all Ecocleen chemicals are held on every client's site.
